In addition to evaluating potentially significant noise and vibration impacts from implementation of both the General Plan and Downtown Precise Plan, PlaceWorks conducted community noise monitoring at 10 long-term (48 hours) and 22 short-term (10 minutes) locations throughout the city and downtown area. Existing and future noise contours—60, 65, and 70 dBA Ldn—were projected for roadways and highways and displayed graphically to assist planners in evaluating future development projects for noise and land use compatibility. Sonoma-Marin Area Rail Transit (SMART) rail noise and airport noise were also evaluated.
