PlaceWorks is the lead coordinator of an international design competition —called “Breaking New Ground”— focused on workforce housing for farm and service workers in the Coachella Valley. The competition is sponsored by The California Endowment as part of its Building Healthy Communities program.

The Fall 2014 issue of Esri’s ArcNews published an article by PlaceWorks’ David Early and Sarah Sutton about the Rooftops Resources Project, which developed a way to assess urban rooftops for their capacity to grow food, capture rainwater, and generate electricity

If you are already familiar with our Practical Guide series, we offer a revised edition in a new graphical setting with some new and updated material. If you are not already familiar with the Practical Guides, this is a good introduction. “A Practical Guide to Environmental Risk: Perception, Assessment, Communication” describes some of the human and scientific processes at work when an environmental hazard rears its head.
