APA National Conference

APA’s National Conference is in Seattle this year, from April 17 to 22. PlaceWorks’ principal David Early will moderate a panel discussion, Safe, Sustainable, and Resilient by Geodesign,” featuring PlaceWorks’ GIS Manager Robert Kain, Rob Matthews from Esri, and Mary Roderick from the University of Washington. The panel will explore the concept and practice of geodesign and supporting technologies and their application to planning for green infrastructure and climate adaptation.

David will also be the speaker for “5 Ways to Increase Planning Project Success,” an Esri-sponsored “learning theater.” Case studies illustrate how successfully geodesign and GIS technologies can be used to visualize and assess natural and social outcomes of proposed designs and plans. David will show how PlaceWorks’ GreenScore can be combined with Esri’s GeoPlanner to create new interactive tools.
