2023 PlaceWorks Scholarship Recipients

PlaceWorks is pleased to announce our 2023 scholarship recipients—Nicole Larson and Alyssa Suarez. The PlaceWorks Scholarship Program, which is now in its 3rd year, was established to provide financial assistance to individuals from historically underrepresented groups pursuing degrees in planning, urban design, architecture, environmental planning, landscape architecture, and related fields.

Nicole Larson is a graduate student at the University of California, Irvine, and is pursuing a Master of Urban and Regional Planning. With a background in earth sciences and environmental management, Nicole’s studies focus on the intersection of environmental planning, climate resilience, and water resources.

Alyssa Suarez is a graduate student at Cal Poly Humboldt and is currently pursuing a Master of Environmental Policy and Planning. After she completes her studies, Alyssa hopes to work at the state level to advance policies that increase equity for underrepresented communities and Tribes most vulnerable to climate change and its social, economic, and environmental impacts.

Please join us in congratulating Nicole and Alyssa!
