Joint Internship Program Promotes Diversity in Planning

As part of our ongoing efforts to encourage meaningful change within the profession, PlaceWorks has partnered with four other firms—Ascent, Dudek, Environmental Science Associates, and Rincon—to establish the Environmental and Planning Diversity Internship Program.

Established in 2022, the joint program matches college students from underrepresented communities with professionals in the private and public sectors to provide valuable work experience.

This summer, the program included 10 internships, with each of the five firms hiring two BIPOC students to work on a collaborative project with the City of Sacramento.  Read more about the program here: A Collaborative Approach to Increasing Diversity in Planning
