The Richmond Wellness Trail is multi-modal corridor connecting the Richmond Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) station to the Richmond Ferry Terminal. Funded through an urban greening grant, this project includes green infrastructure, bike and pedestrian improvements, increased tree canopy, low water-use plantings, wayfinding, and interpretive signage.

Improvements include new bike lanes and improved sidewalks for safe, equitable transportation; rain gardens to clean the community’s water; and new street trees to expand Richmond’s urban forest. Connecting the Iron Triangle and Coronado neighborhoods, the wellness trail also brings active transportation opportunities to the community, while improving overall watershed health. PlaceWorks led the multi-disciplinary design team in this effort and assisted the Trust for Public Land with community outreach and engagement, working closely with local community groups and stakeholders. Construction of Phase 1 is anticipated to be completed by spring of 2022.
