PlaceWorks Projects Set an Example

The American Planning Association’s Planning Advisory Service recognized PlaceWorks’ contribution to the emerging practice of geodesign in the March/April PAS Memo, “Geodesign and the Future of Planning.” Authors Shannon McElvaney of Esri and David Rouse of APA used the Menlo Park General Plan and the Benicia Urban Waterfront Enhancement and Master Plan as case studies to illustrate the visual advantages of GIS applications in community planning and design. The memo highlighted the roles played by PlaceWorks’ “GreenScore” and Esri’s “GeoPlanner for ArcGIS” in the success of these plans. The memo is available to PAS subscribers at www.planning.org/pas/memo/2015/mar/.

Esri also posted a case study on its website that featured the Menlo Park General Plan.
