The Wiseburn School District proposed to repurpose an existing office building into a new high school serving 1,500 students in grades 9 through 12. PlaceWorks completed an EIR, followed by a supplemental EIR for a gymnasium and a joint-use pool, and an addendum to expand student capacity. Due to the existing conditions and infrastructure in the surrounding area, the project required extremely complex and detailed site selections and alternatives analyses. The Title 5 risk assessments included a rail risk study for three active rail lines and two highway-rail crossings within 1,500 feet of the school site. A pipeline safety hazard assessment covered three natural gas pipelines and two petroleum-product pipelines.
