PlaceWorks collaborated with Canopy and their Urban Forestry Team to design a new outdoor classroom space for Hoover Elementary School in Redwood City. PlaceWorks trained youth members of the Urban Forestry Team to facilitate design workshops for community members to envision the future school space. Based on the feedback gathered, PlaceWorks developed a design concept with lawn removal and drought-tolerant planting, expansive tree planting, a new decomposed granite pathway, and seating area. Canopy worked with local volunteers to implement the project.
