Tracy Sustainability Action Plan

PlaceWorks led this effort to prepare a comprehensive strategy to reduce greenhouse gases (GHGs) and make Tracy, California, a more sustainable community. The plan successfully achieves the city’s GHG reduction target through strategies that address everything from solid waste management to open space protection. The plan is part of the state’s Emerald Cities program that aims to help local jurisdictions become more sustainable. PlaceWorks developed creative and innovative measures in a collaborative process with a strong community outreach component. The city adopted the Sustainability Action Plan in February 2011, and it won an Award of Merit for Innovation in Green Community Planning from the Sacramento Valley Section of the American Planning Association.
