Sonora High School Improvements

Improvements entailed modernizing classroom buildings and the cafeteria, demolishing the pool and tennis courts, constructing a new aquatics facility and three new tennis courts, and other minor improvements throughout the project site, such as accessibility improvements and landscaping. One of the classroom buildings was a locally eligible historic resource. Another issue was the potential for pollutants and sedimentation to affect a nearby creek during construction. A third was the vibration at nearby residences caused by construction of the aquatics center. The initial study / mitigated negative declaration included mitigation to ensure the architectural integrity of the historic building, BMPs to protect the creek, and reduced-vibration construction and pile installation only on weekdays to reduce vibration impacts.
