Resilient Mammoth Lakes, Town of Mammoth Lakes

As an isolated town that depends heavily on winter sports and other outdoor recreation, Mammoth Lakes is both physically and economically susceptible to climate change. The Resilient Mammoth Lakes project addresses a wide range of future conditions and supports increased resiliency for the Town’s buildings and infrastructure, vulnerable populations, key community services, economic sectors, and ecosystems. It includes an in-depth climate vulnerability assessment, dedicated climate adaptation strategies, and updates to the safety and housing elements of the Town’s general plan. The planning process included engagement of stakeholders through a technical advisory committee, community workshops, and study sessions and public hearings. PlaceWorks led the project with assistance from Atlas Planning Solutions and the Sierra Business Council.
