MRCA Los Angeles River Ranger Establishment Plan

MRCA Los Angeles River Ranger Establishment Plan for the Mountains Recreation and Conservation Authority. PlaceWorks was selected by the Mountains Recreation and Conservation Authority (MRCA) to help plan and design the Los Angeles River Ranger Program. Per the requirements of Assembly Bill 1558, the program would establish a network of River Rangers who would be available to engage with and assist public visitors at points along the Los Angeles River. The goal of the program is to increase public safety and educate the community. PlaceWorks is working alongside MRCA to develop a unique plan that is responsive to the needs and conditions of the river’s diverse reaches. Through this work, we hope to enhance both the experience and the condition of the Los Angeles River. As part of the initial visioning process we will meet with stakeholders on a regular basis to garner feedback from the public. We will also prepare base maps, review comparable programs, and develop a project description and program framework that will guide the development of the River Ranger Program.
