Los Angeles County Parks Projects

PlaceWorks’ multidisciplinary team of landscape architects, planners, and GIS professionals coordinated the inventory of over 3,000 parks by more than 80 park agencies and developed metrics to assess park need across the county in the Comprehensive Parks and Recreation Needs Assessment. The assessments were shared at meetings for 186 communities and became the basis of understanding the scope and scale of park need in Los Angeles County. The results helped to illuminate public health and wellness issues and have been used to inform policy and resource decisions both countywide and in individual communities. The Master Plan for Sustainable Parks & Recreation provides detailed analyses of six unincorporated communities and suggests practical solutions for meeting their park need, including community-inspired conceptual designs for new parks.
