The USGBC is a development industry association that promotes and creates standards for sustainable development. These “LEED” (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) standards are nationally recognized and have vastly improved accountability in green development. However, sometimes locally-developed standards are more appropriate for a given project (for example, see Multi-Family Green Building Guidelines).
Eric Lloyd Wright Architecture and Planning is committed to the continuing evolution of Organic Architecture through the integration of ecological design principles and material considerations. Here are images of the Eric Lloyd Wright Residence and restoration of the Storer Residence.
The concentration of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere has increased by 19% in the last 50 years (graph). Current levels of carbon dioxide are unprecedented in the last 400,000 years (graph), a period in which global temperatures were mostly cooler than today (as shown in this graph, which also shows a strong correlation between global temperature and carbon dioxide concentration). Because we already live in a period that is quite warm compared to the last 400,000 years, it is hard to predict what will happen to the earth as carbon dioxide emissions accelerate from human consumption of fossil fuels (graph), but today's children and future generations may well have to endure severe problems resulting from flooding and disruption to food production.
