Childcare Center Soil Remediation
A long-vacant brownfield site on East Imperial Highway in unincorporated Los Angeles County had three areas with known high concentrations of lead. During implementation of the Remedial Excavation Plan, we found even greater areas of lead-impacted soil next to the initial excavations. In the end, nearly 153 tons of lead-impacted soil were excavated. Concentrations were still above the target in one place, but further excavation into the public right-of-way was not feasible, so this area will remain paved with concrete. Exposure to future workers, students, or visitors is highly unlikely.
