Alameda Urban Farm and Garden Plan
As part of Alameda’s Urban Greening Plan, PlaceWorks developed a plan to increase opportunities for urban agriculture. The plan identified sites for community gardens, school gardens, and commercial agriculture. Our approach combined a GIS analysis—using data layers such as ownership, existing land use, and zoning—with stakeholder and public input through interviews and community workshops. The final plan identifies priority sites and and includes strategies for establishing farms and gardens in these locations, conceptual designs for urban farms and gardens, and a financing plan.
